CBD May Slow Cancer Growth

According to the American Cancer Society, scientists have recently reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes. This is not only fascinating, but encouraging news for not only researchers, but those who are diagnosed with cancer, or have a loved one who has cancer.

Additionally, some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may not only slow the growth of cancer cells but also reduce the spread of some forms of cancer.

Using animal models, CBD has been shown to inhibit the progression of many types of cancer including glioblastoma (GBM), breast, lung, prostate and colon cancer.” As seen in the Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology white paper, The Antitumor Activity of Plant-Derived Non-Psychoactive Cannabinoids.

Animals, dogs in particular, have many of the same brain receptors as humans. Many CBD companies are making special CBD oil formulas and products just for pets. However, more medical research is needed surrounding the use and effectiveness of CBD in both pets and people for a wide range of conditions and diseases like cancer.

CBD cancer research will help scientists learn the correct protocols, dosages and safety measures for CBD use for a variety of conditions. For example, a patient with glioblastoma, should they have surgery, receive radiation and CBD or chemotherapy and CBD, or perhaps some other combination of therapies will be most effective? Researchers are diligently combing through data and running clinical trials to learn these and other answers – unlocking CBD’s potential.

Clinical Trials For CBD
Clinical trials are the principal way for manufacturers to show that their products are safe and effective. They also provide opportunities to learn more about various medical conditions. The results of clinical trials are measured against the best standard therapy available for the particular condition. Clinical trials are available throughout the world at university hospitals, cancer centers, and hospitals.
